Are you supposed to focus on technical thoughts about your swing when you go play or should you not have any technical thoughts at all?

In this week's golf psychology session, mental game of golf expert and author of The Mental Game of Golf, Dr. Cohn, responds to a question from Andrew who had this to say about his golf game:

"I'm a senior golf pro. I've tried every swing there is with hope of finding a swing I can repeat. Over the years I've gotten worse. My feelings is that I need a repeatable swing to play but I've never managed this. Sometimes on the range I just hit draws and fades with no swing thoughts. I would never miss a shot. It feels the opposite of what I'm supposed to do. Should.i have swing thoughts? Try to get in the perfect position? Well that doesn't work or no technical thoughts. I'll hit it so much better but it's not the right way to go about it. Do you have any help?"
